Chard county councillors are campaigning for a traffic camera at the Convent Link cross roads in Chard, even though transport rules say two crashes must happen before a device can be installed.
Nigel Mermagen and Jill Shortland, whose two county council divisions meet at the traffic-light controlled junction, have responded to their electors' concerns about cars jumping red lights.
Attempts to get a camera installed by the Somerset Safety Camera Partnership were thwarted by a Department for Transport rule that two accidents must be caused by people jumping red lights in a two year period, before a camera can go in.
