THROUGH the Somerset County Gazette, may I ask if there are any kind souls who may be able to offer me accommodation for a night or two as I attempt to walk from Land's End to John O' Groats commencing April this year?
My route is not fully defined and a belief in serendipity may well decide what turn to take at any particular time! I'm 56 years old and wish to experience the natural beauty of the country that I left in 1973.
Spending nine months travelling through Africa, I lived and worked in South Africa until 1983 when I emigrated to Australia. Although I'm not the 'boy scout' type, it's about time I realised this dream of mine as my two teenage children declare that I'm already 25 years the wrong side of such a challenge!
I underwent a kidney transplant in 1995 after having been on dialysis for over four years and hope that there are some warm people out there with an affinity for my circumstances, willing to give me a roof over my head and I in return can offer a friendly smile, a chat and help with the crossword!
If you feel that you may be able to offer some assistance, I'll be pleased to hear from you and answer any questions you may have. ROY EDWARDS Little Shalford Rouchel Road Aberdeen NSW 2336 e-mail: bodian@hunterlink.net.au
