I am trying to get in touch with soldiers or the families of those who served in the Duke of Cornwall Light Infantry. In particular I would like to contact those who witnessed the heroic fighting near the River Escaut, St Eloi, Ypres-Comines line, and between Nieuport and Furnes on the Dunkirk perimeter.
I would also like to contact those who served with any other 1940 British Expeditionary Force regiment and men from the Navy/civilians who evacuated the BEF in little or HMS ships, or cross Channel steamers, during the campaign in France and Belgium in 1940 - or their families if they hold written memoirs about the campaign.
My interest is in connection with a book, commissioned by Penguin, which I am writing about Dunkirk and the other evacuations from France in 1940 and the subsequent sinking of the French fleet by the British at Oran/Mers-el-Kebir.
If anyone can help, please contact me at 37 Tanza Road, London NW3 2UA. Tel 020-7-435-1035 (work)/1181 (home)
