English Heritage has made it possible for Cornish couples to hold their weddings in a fairy-tale location by the sea. For the first time they can tie the knot within the ancient walls of St Mawes Castle.
A wedding licence has just been awarded to the charming, clover-leaf shaped castle which has a spectacular setting in lovely grounds high above the sea.
Hospitality manager for St Mawes Castle, Loraine Matthews said: "It is wonderful that couples can now use the heritage that is on their doorstep to celebrate such a momentous occasion in their lives. Weddings have been taking place at Pendennis Castle, just across the Carrick Roads, for six years - so now there are two magical Tudor castles to choose from."
