The Redruth-based Cornwall Centre for Volunteers is looking for people whose new year resolution is to help others less fortunate than themselves.
They are currently calling for volunteers who can bring some brightness into the lives of older people. Volunteers are required to work with two Kerrier Healthy Living Centre projects - the Camborne Live at Home Scheme and the Help at Home Scheme, based in Helston.
Richard Hocking, KHLC's volunteer recruitment officer, said: "We are now into a new year and there must be people out there who want to make a fresh start by helping others.
"We have a particular need at present for volunteers to work with older people. Imagine what it must feel like for older people who live alone and don't have much to brighten their days during these long dark winter months. It would be great to be able to change that and transform their lives by a visit. For them, a friendly face calling in can be something to look forward to all week."
"Both KHLC projects are looking for more volunteers now. No special skills are required, and just a couple of hours a week would be enough to make a huge difference. The great thing is that the volunteers also gain such a lot from the new friendships they make."
Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer can contact Richard at the Cornwall Centre for Volunteers at 64 West End, Redruth TR15 2SQ or by telephone on (01209) 217614.
