Yeovil Town striker Kirk Jackson has gone out on loan to Nationwide Conference outfit Dagenham and Redbridge in a bid to rediscover his goalscoring touch (writes Steve Sowden).
Jackson, who was an unused substitute last Saturday in the 2-0 defeat at Carlisle United, will join the Daggers for a month.
Jackson has struggled to find the form that took him to within a whisker of winning the Conference's Golden Boot award last term. The goals have not been flowing and Yeovil boss Gary Johnson seems to have lost patience with the man he brought to Huish Park in November 2002 from Stevenage Borough.
Johnson said that Jackson had been working very hard in training and had been finding things frustrating of late.
But he added: "Jacko's gone to Dagenham for a month to try and rekindle his goalscoring form. He needs a fresh challenge."
With Jackson gone, Johnson is continuing his search for a new striker and it is understood that he has been in touch with Nationwide League Division Three rivals Boston United about the availability of frontman Simon Weatherstone.
Johnson confirmed that three triallists had been at Huish Park earlier this week from Scotland, but none of them were what he was looking for. But the search will go on.
He has announced a full-strength squad for this Saturday's vital game with Letyon Orient at Huish Park -- barring Roy O'Brien.
"It is a big game for us as we try to bounce back from the Carlisle defeat," he said.
"These next few games are extremely important for us and could mean the difference between automatic promotion or the play-offs.
"We need to pick up points from these sorts of games -- but every game is a big one."
