An outstanding student from Helston College has been offered a place at Jesus College, Cambridge.
Richard Prest, 16, from Constantine, only needs to achieve three A grades from his four A -evel exams in art, geography, maths and physics to allow him to read architecture at university.
His successful application follows a history of Oxbridge places in his family.
His elder brother Chris is currently studying at Cambridge, and his sister Rowenna previously studied at Oxford.
Richard said: "I'm really pleased. It's something I've been aiming for."
In addition to his academic achievements, Richard is a keen sports player. Having played football for Helston and Wendron, he is hoping to carry on the sport at university. He has also run for Cornwall with his brother Chris.
Richard, pictured, admitted that there might be one downside to life at Cambridge - as a keen surfer he will have to wait until the holidays to continue his passion.
"It's a major thing," he said, although it has not deterred him from accepting the offer.
