AN ILMINSTER headteacher has called for strong action to tackle vandalism, intimidation and anti-social behaviour by youths in the town.
Paul Birbeck, head at Swanmead Middle School, believes boredom and a lack of respect for authority is at the root of problems caused by a small minority of the town's youth.
He advocates firm deterrent measures including Anti-Social Behaviour Orders (ASBOs) and closed circuit television, as well as moves to provide better facilities for young people.
