A GROUP of Royal Marines based at Norton Manor Camp have done their bit to help former soldiers make one last pilgrimage to the scene of their greatest victory.
Commandos having a drink in Taunton's Black Horse were prompted to help out when they heard of plans by 49 local Normandy Veterans to return to France on the 60th anniversary of the D-Day landings.
They held a number of fundraising events and have now presented Normandy Veterans fundraiser Bill Keitch with a cheque for £300.
The cash will go towards the costs of the trip in June, which is costing £349 per person.
Anyone wishing to support it should send donations to Arthur Helbert, Normandy Veterans' Association, c/o The Royal British Legion, Mary Street, Taunton or to Bill Keitch, 31 Bramble Park, Taunton TA1 2QT.
