A BOBSLEIGH team consisting of 15 Royal Navy and Royal Marine members needs help to reach the Inter-Service Championships in Norway this year.
Lt Graham Stringer, the officer in charge of the Royal Navy Air Station Merryfield, Ilton, is appealing to any businesses or organisations interested in sponsoring the team.
He said: "We compete at the inter-service level in the demanding and adrenaline-filled sport of bobsleigh, and two members of my team are competing at international level on a full-time basis.
"Most notably, my team captain is the Winter Olympian Lee Johnston, who is currently British champion in both two- and four-man bobsleigh."
The team needs at least £3,000 towards travel costs and an additional £3,000 for suitable clothing.
Lt Stringer said: "As you can see this expenditure is quite substantial, but it'll be pivotal in the image I portray as a serious contender against the RAF and the British Army.
"They have substantially larger reserves to draw on than I do both in terms of manpower and funding."
The team can offer businesses and organisations the chance to advertise on the actual bobsleigh as well as other promotional benefits.
