A HISTORIC Minehead building looks set to be converted into a family pub, despite fierce objection from nearby residents.
Planning chiefs at West Somerset District Council are recommending plans for the restoration of Queen's Hall in Warren Road be approved when councillors meet next week.
Despite receiving 11 objections, the application by Lincolnshire Automatics Ltd has been seen in a positive light in a planning committee report and gained full support from the town council and other consultees.
Plans for the 90-year-old seafront building, which is currently an amusement arcade, include a children's play area and dance floor and the re-instatement of the public viewing gallery.
Outside, layers of paint that have built up over the years will be removed to return the four-storey building to its original brick faade.
In the report, which will be presented to the planning committee on Thursday, the economic and visual benefits the changes will have are flagged up.
