NEWQUAY 1 MULLION 0
MULLION'S gradual descent down the slippery slope in the Jolly's Combination League continued at a wet and windswept Mount Wise on Saturday when they were beaten 1-0 by fellow strugglers Newquay.
The visitors were again only able to field a side well short of the strength it enjoyed earlier in the season and not surprisingly struggled to make an impact against a Peppermints side who dominated much of what went on.
Despite that, Mullion played an equal part in the first half exchanges and the nearest either side came to scoring was when Andy Birt's point-blank header went straight at the 'keeper.
The decisive goal came midway through the second half when Sheridan Sefton, who engineered much of Newquay's good football, provided the cross for Birt to nod the ball over the goalkeeper with a flick header to ensure the home side pulled off their first victory in six attempts.
