THE first round of the Barry Mounter Knockout Trophy took place on Sunday and the following pairs won places in the quarter-finals to be played on Sunday, January 25.
Tom Hayward and Alan Graham, John Warden and Pat Eady, Fred Hayne and Tony Boyce, Chris Cox-Webber and Phil Hales, Barry Knowles and Paul Forsythe, William Giddings and Charlie May, Nigel Waters and Alun Dixon and Francis Vickerstaffe and Steve Strick.
There was also a Stableford for those not in the knockout competition which was won by Brian Pearce on 39 points and Keith Berry in second place with 35 points closely followed by Jim Duffield in third place.
Saturday's ladies' Stableford was cancelled due to poor weather.
The ladies Wednesday nine hole stableford was won by Anna Harry with 16 points while Jennifer Chambers took second with 14 points and Diana Kelynack winning the putting.
The first quiz of 2004 took a singles format with John Pawlyn taking first place followed by Rita Russell in second place and Martin Russell in third place.
Next week there is a Monday to Friday Stableford. The ladies play a nine-hole Stableford on Wednesday morning while the O.G.R.E.S. meet on Wednesday afternoon.
The ladies play their monthly medal on Saturday and the men's monthly medal is on Sunday.
