First may I say that I write this letter with no connection either to the military or local politics. The next thing is, I would like to both thank and congratulate profusely the forces that are stationed in both Iraq and Afghanistan. They all deserve both our respect and admiration for a job well done and indeed are continuing to do. Can this please be conveyed to them? Can I say to the solder from Falmouth that you and your colleagues have achieved more in the last few months than the anti-war banner holders have in their entire existence? They where misguided, ill-informed and totally disloyal to their fellow countrymen. They where obviously quiet happy that Saddam held 25,000,000 of his own people hostage, killed hundreds of thousands of his own people and tortured and maimed many more. Where were the protesters' banners then? I will tell you where they were, nonexistent. It's the same attitude now being displayed by them that was displayed over the anti-nuclear protests. They were ill-informed, easily led and mostly work-shy. So can I once again both thank and congratulate our solders in Iraq. You are all doing a great job, and the majority of us love and support you, and at the same time we thank God that we have people as committed as you all are, protecting our country. Barrie Elliott, Boscundle Avenue, Falmouth.
