WHILE congestion continues to dog one of the busiest junctions in Cornwall, County Councillor Bert Biscoe is hoping for an answer to the problem can be found quickly.
Mr Biscoe says he is "upping the ante" in a bid to solve the traffic problems at Trafalgar roundabout in Truro.
"It is a scheme that has been around for the last ten years," said Mr Biscoe. "We need to get moving with it because we need to improve the quality of life for people living in the roads that spin off that roundabout. We need to manage that road."
Mr Biscoe is calling on the county council to run the Tregolls Road dual carriageway through the centre of the roundabout and install traffic lights at the Malpas Road and St Clement's Hill.
The money for the scheme could be funded from the £21 million recently made available for road improvements across Cornwall.
"This scheme needs to happen sooner or later because there are significant economic matters in Truro that need to be addressed."
Mr Biscoe says that three weeks ago the man in charge of roads at county, Richard Fish, said that the scheme was in the pipeline and was moving up the queue.
"I wouldn't like to say it was going to happen next week," said Mr Biscoe. "but we need the extra pressure to encourage the people to think it is going through."
