THE MP for the Burnham and Highbridge area has hit out after Avon and Somerset Police landed people in Sedgemoor with a hefty tax bill to pay for new officers, which he says, will not help the area.
David Heathcoat-Amory believes that even though the police have raised demands for their slice of council tax cash by 12 per cent, the extra money will be used to benefit people in Bristol, rather than the southern part of the district.
The Tory says the demands are unfair on people in the Burnham area because new officers recruited with the extra funds are likely to be stationed in Bristol.
