WITH terrible weather forecast, the Falmouth Bowling Club's Men's Triples League found a slot in the weather and managed to complete the games with only one shower disturbing them.
However, on completion of the last game the Heavens opened up with hail and rain pouring down.
Match of the day saw league leaders Saracens (Penryn) playing the Knobs (Mawnan).
In game one, Bobby Pellow's Saracens' rink managed to win against Harry Barnes' Knobs rink by five shots, but in game two, Ernie Eva's Saracens rink were defeated by Philip Dunstone's Knobs rink by five shots. This resulted in a tied match each getting four points.
Falmouth's Packets, who were second in the league, were defeated by Falmouth's Waisters.
Ron Medlyn's Waisters rink with Moss Fuller leading and Tony Nancholas at No 2, bowled extremely well and the rink soon established a 10-shot lead over John Bobins' Packets rink. After obtaining this lead the Waisters were never pressed again and eventually won by 12 shots.
Harry Stephen's Waisters rink with John Jones leading and Frank Waplington at No 2, just managed to hold on to a two shot victory over Tony Pereir's Packets rink and the Waisters collected all eight points.
In the remaining match the Pirates (Penryn) took six points from the Falcons (Constantine/ Falmouth) who collected two points. Harry Hodge's Falcons rink built up a good lead over Mike Churcher's Pirates rink and went on to win by 13 shots.
In match two, Robert Pellow's Pirates rink, after killing three ends eventually ran out easy winners by 18 shots over Ray Vassie's Falcons rink - they were last off the green just as the downpour arrived.
