The Falmouth J24 fleet has a new boat to contest the local championships and regattas. Richard, Simon and Tim Carter along with Tony Foster have teamed up to form the core crew of an Italian race- prepared J24.
'Jazz' competed at the European championships last year with her previous owner and achieved fantastic results. Her new owners are no strangers to J24 racing having successfully campaigned 'Johnny Bravo' over the past four years.
"We are delighted with the new boat Jazz and very pleased that Johnny Bravo also remains in the harbour, we just want to get out there and do battle!" said Simon Carter. "We are busy making adjustments and fine tuning Jazz to ensure she performs," said Richard Carter
The Falmouth J24 fleet has been a great success, providing one- design racing with up to 14 boats on a Tuesday and Friday evening. The J24 World championships are to be held in the UK in 2005 and competition will be fierce during the lead up regattas held around the UK.
Tim Carter added: "Racing in big regattas requires optimum boat performance to get results. We will need a few trial runs to iron out any teething problems with Jazz, but we should be ready for the Spring Cup to be held in Falmouth from May 1 to 3r."
Tony Foster lives on a boat during the summer months and spends his spare time racing. He said: "We have got a great boat and a great team, we are primarily racing the local championships, but we will just have to see how it goes with regards to the World Championships."
