Bude 40pts FALMOUTH 3pts
Falmouth lost by 40 points to six against Bude on Saturday in quite a closely contested Cornwall and Devon League fixture.
The scoreline scarcely reflected the match at all. In terrible conditions with a mud bath for a pitch, Falmouth displayed some good form against Bude who are second in the league and are looking for promotion.
Falmouth A's match against the Bude 2nd XV was called off due to the state of the pitch at the Recreation Ground.
Bude scored a try in the first five minutes throough Julian Morris which occurred from an interception when Falmouth were actually on the attack.
This lead to a passage of even play, the Falmouth forwards showing some excellent skills, but were unlucky not to score.
Bude, however, managed to score another two converted tries in the first half through Simon Lewery. Ben Tresidder kicked the conversions.
Falmouth were awarded a penalty from a Bude offside from which Liam Chappel scored to leave the visitors trailing 21-3 at half time. However, Falmouth still believed that winning this match was not far from their sights the way play was running.
Although the second half paralleled the first with Bude scoring another early try After Morris ran on to a chip from Dan Frost.
A period of even play failed to bring any reward for Falmouth and finally two late tries followed through Tresidder and Alex Rakhshani .
Falmouth were a little disheartened by the 40-6 scoreline, but it was a good match nonetheless. Unfortunately there was one injury when Falmouth replacement hooker Phil Barnet suffered a dislocated knee injury.
