TRURO CITY 2

FALMOUTH TOWN 2

A GOAL five minutes from time denied Truro City all three points from this Jolly's Combination League clash, but it would have been an injustice had Falmouth Town not gained some reward for their performance.

The first half was dominated by the visitors, but thanks to a fine rearguard action by City's back three, they were fotunate to go in at half-time on level terms when they could well have trailed by several goals.

The second half saw a complete transformation with City making a mockery of their first half performance and turning the game around completely, but they were unable to hold on after a late rally by the visitors.

During the first 45 minutes City just couldn't get to grips with the game as Town penned them back after gaining a stranglehold in midfield.

Town were much quicker in everything they did and it was to such an extent that City rarely managed to get near the visitors' penalty area.

It was inevitable that Town would eventually score and it duly arrived in the 20th minute when City 'keeper Bobby Wignall was unable to clear a corner which allowed Andy Westgarth to nod the ball into the net.

Ten minutes before half-time City were back on level terms against the run of play when Chris Phillips headed in a free kick by Brian Jay.

In the second half City looked a different side as they took the game to Town and forced them back on the defensive.

Luke Wort came on for Adam Barnicoat and ten minutes later City nosed in front. A gap momentarily opened up for Kayne Trevaskis and although he was unable to get his shot away he managed to retain possession and cut inside to score past the 'keeper.

Trevaskis and Wort both had promising chances, but tenacious covering and tackling by Town prevented them from scoring.

Ten minutes from time Mike Hill came on for Baxter as City attempted to stifle Town's attempt to snatch an equaliser, but just when it looked like they might hang on for all three points Town struck with an 85th minute equaliser.

Town broke along the flank and crossed into the box where a ball diverted off a City defender into the path of Aaron Cremore who drilled the ball into the net past Wignall.
