THE success of The Friends of Wellington Park is the blueprint for a similar group being formed in Taunton.
About 80 people are helping to create The Friends of Vivary Park, led by former Taunton Deane Mayor Adrian Prior-Sankey, who is acting as chairman.
The group hopes to emulate the success of its Wellington counterparts who last year secured the prestigious Green Flag and celebrated the park's centenary.
Like Wellington Park, Vivary Park has recently been restored and now the group is hoping to capitalise on the project's progress.
Mr Prior-Sankey, who is a member of The Friends of Wellington Park, said: "It's at a very early stage but we have working groups on the case.
"There are opportunities to develop floral and horticultural interests as well as recreation and music. We're also seeking to get the Green Flag and we're learning from Wellington's success."
The group's next meeting is in early February and individuals or groups interested in getting involved should contact Taunton Deane Council's parks development officer Stephen Cuthill on 01823-356356.
