Torquay managed three goals after an eight hour barren spell when they beat big-spenders Northampton at Plainmoor on Saturday.
Jo Kuffour broke the non-scoring run with a 12th minute strike following a parried Alex Russell shot.
Further goals from Lee Canoville, a sweet left-footed 25-yarder, and captain Craig Taylor, a close-range volley, were punctuated by an Ian Sampson reply when the score was at 2-0. The result keeps the Gulls in ninth.
