PRISON issue toilet pans are being installed at public loos in Chard and Ilminster to stem a rising tide of vandalism.

The loos, made of toughened plastic, will replace ceramic models which have repeatedly fallen victim to steel toe capped boots.

South Somerset District Council is phasing in the replacements following vandalism at the toilets in Bath Street, Chard, last year.

Money down the pan - find out the cost of loo repairs in the News this Wednesday (January 14).
