Bristol Shoguns beat Penzance/Newlyn 20-18 on Saturday, and the Pirates are now facing a difficult task to escape from relegation to the National Division Two.
For 84 minutes of the game the Cornish side were leading, but the crucial minute was the last one, when Bristol were leading by two. A Brett Davey try and a Danny Gray conversion did the damage.
In Division Three South Launceston are now in second place behind Blackheath following their weekend 38-14 victory over Haywards Heath. But Redruth, in the same division, lost 24-8 to Barking.
