A TAUNTON man who allegedly dressed as a "suicide bomber" at London's Paddington Station was again remanded in custody when he appeared at Middle-sex Guildhall Crown Court on Monday.

Timothy Richards, 30, of Cheddon Road, was arrested after being seen wearing a bulky belt with wires protruding and carrying a flame thrower.

He told five police officers at the scene on May 29 last year they would die in an explosion, it is claimed.

He also caused a series of other bomb hoaxes by making nine phone calls claiming Paddington and five other London stations were being targeted, the court was told at an earlier hearing.

But the 'bomb belt' turned out to be an extension lead wrapped in brown packing tape.

Richards was ordered to appear before the court again on February 5 for a pre-trial review.

He is charged with placing an article with intent, nine charges of communicating a bomb hoax and five counts of making threats to kill the arresting officers and affray.

He is further charged with possession of a weapon designed or adapted for the discharge of a continual projected naked flame contrary to the Firearms Act 1968.
