THE boyfriend of a Somerset woman has been arrested following her brutal death on a tropical paradise island on Christmas Day.
Catherine Hazel Campbell, 43, died allegedly during a row with her boyfriend, Adrian Duggan, 35, of Gwent, in a guesthouse they were staying in at Vagator, Goa, southern India.
Ms Campbell was discovered in a pool of blood by police, who broke her door down after they were alerted by the landlady, who heard screams.
It appears she was wounded by a pair of scissors.
The Foreign Office initially said Ms Campbell came from Taunton, although it has now emerged that she lived in Bridgwater.
Mr Duggan received treatment for stab wounds to the chest, also caused by a pair of scissors, in hospital in Goa.
But he was arrested this week and is being held by police, although he has not been charged.
The couple had earlier returned from a Christ-mas Eve party before the incident at 4am.
The West Somerset Coroner, who covers the Taunton area, has not been informed of Ms Campbell's death and it is not known whether her body will be flown back to Britain or whether an inquest will be held here.
