On behalf of Matthew Woodley, his family and organisers of the "Matthew Campaign", may I express most sincere thanks to everyone who supported the appeal.

Through the generosity of so many people the campaign raised £4,450. This was so much more than we had dared expect. After buying the very special Christmas present for Matthew, £3,540 was passed on to the children's charity CLIC - challenging Cancer and Leukaemia in Childhood.

The special present for Matthew was, as reported, a quad bike which, following a thrilling ride given to him by the Surf Life Guards at Perranporth Beach, had become his number one wish for Christmas.

Purchase of the bike became a possibility thanks to the heavily discounted price and personal contribution offered by Nick Whetter and Nathan Rowland, of ATV Blackwater.

The possibility became a reality thanks to the magnanimous offer from the Auto Cycle Union of Cornwall (the governing body for all motorcycle sport in the county). Through the auspices of John Bassett, Eric Martyn, John Cullum and the members of the Cornwall Centre of the Union, the ACU generously offered to support the appeal to the extent of a contribution matching the full cost of the quad bike and essential, associated accessories. A most kind and generous gesture, which is very much appreciated.

Other generous donations were made, specifically to benefit CLIC - Chris Harrison, of Truro solicitors firm Chris Harrison and Company, gave a substantial contribution to the campaign, and this was complemented by large donations from the City of Truro Round Table, Truro Rotary Club, and from SuperStretch Limousines, of St Day.

John Hewett of SuperStretch Limousines made a further contributions to the Matthew Campaign by providing a special limousine ride for Matthew, his family and friends.

During the special outing in the stretched limo, John gave flowers and champagne to the family and provided extra presents for the children.

Contributions were received from so many very kind people, both in and around the Truro area and from further afield including Liverpool, Chichester, Guildford, Gloucester and Rutland.

Among organisations and businesses which added to the campaign through special donations and by promoting the appeal with collection boxes were The Hall for Cornwall, Penrose Outdoors, the Pizza Pantry, and Lord Sandwich of Truro, the Doctors Surgery, Cost Cutters, Tyrrells Gift Shop, and the Post Office, all of Carnon Downs, as well as the Spa Shop and the Shell Garage at Playing Place.

John Verran, of Truro city council parks and gardens department, together with a group of friends, raised £650 in one day, with the generous support of Truro publicans, bar and club owners, and their customers.

Thanks to everyone who helped make Matthew's wish come true, and who helped us provide a donation to CLIC.
