THE funeral of a 49-year-old father of two found hanged at his home in Falmouth the day before Christmas eve takes place up-country this Friday.

Police and paramedics were called to the home of Royston Dallaway in Kimberley Park Road at around 9am on December 23. A member of the family had discovered the body.

Married with two grown-up children, Mr Dallaway was originally from Droitwich in Worcestershire, where his immediate family live. His funeral takes place at Worcester crematorium at 11am on Friday

Neighbours expressed their shock at Mr Dallaway's death and spoke of a quiet man who kept himself very much to himself. They said the family was "pleasant" and they were "very good people."

Mr Dallaway had been a paint gang casual at Falmouth Docks working for A&P since July 1998.

Paint gang manager Nigel Best said this week that Mr Dallaway had been one of his hardest workers and his death had come as a great shock to everybody.

"He was a really nice guy," he said. "You couldn't meet a nicer guy. He was very quiet and kept himself to himself. His death has shocked everyone here. We couldn't believe it when we heard.

"He was an incredibly hard worker and was always one of the first to be called when there was a job on. He was very good at whatever he put his hand too, he was a quality worker."

The family on his wife's side used to be involved in the running of the equestrian shop on Berkley Vale before selling it to the current owners.

The inquest into Mr Dallaway's death was opened and adjourned by West Cornwall coroner Emma Carlyon on December 24.
