REDRUTH Rugby Club has been unable to find any evidence to support claims of racial abuse during its Boxing Day fixture with Camborne.
The club, drew the following conclusions:
"Redruth RFC has now conducted a full and formal investigation into the allegations that one of its players made racist comments to a Camborne player during the Boxing Day game prior to that Camborne player being sent off.
"The player against whom the allegation was made has denied making any racist comment," said club secretary Mr Roger Watsomn.
"Furthermore, no other Redruth player is aware of any such comment despite suggestions that there were other Redruth players within earshot.
"The refereee, Mr D May, with whom the club has spoken officially, has said that he believed a fair tackle had been made and that he did not hear any racist comments.
"Redruth RFC deplores and will not tolerate racism in any form and will take this opportunity to remind all its members, including playing members, that such behaviour is unacceptable.
"However, the club's disciplinary committee finds that the allegations made by Camborne RFC are not substantiated."
That is not the end of the matter, however, as Camborne RFC were due to discuss the relevant reports yesterday evening.
