A DATE was today agreed for the public inquiry into plans to turn the accident-prone A30 Goss Moor road into a dual carriageway.

The inquiry to consider the A30 through Mid-Cornwall will be held next Tuesday before an independent inspector appointed by the Planning Inspectorate agency.

The area under review is the single-lane stretch of the road between the two dualled sections.

The Highways Agency wants to divert and dual the road. But because Goss Moor is an important nature reserve, environmentalists remain unconvinced about the implications for wildlife.

The inspector will hold the inquiry in Bodmin.
