TO encourage greater energy efficiency in Mid Devon homes, special advice sessions have been organised this month.
Residents are being encouraged to save energy, money and the environment as part of the "Light Up Your Life" campaign by Mid Devon District Council, who have invited the Devon Efficiency Advice Centre to run advisory events in Tiverton, Cullompton and Crediton.
Low energy light bulbs will given away free to people who complete a Home Energy Check form at any one of the sessions.
Councillor Jane Campbell, Chairman of the Council's Community Services Committee, said: "We must encourage residents as much as we can to save energy in order to meet our target of reducing consumption by up to 30 percent over the next 10 years.
"Take advantage of the free energy check on your home and the chance to get some free low energy light bulbs by visiting one of the events taking place around Mid Devon."
Energy advisers will be on hand at the events in Tiverton, Cullompton and Crediton to answer people's questions and give advice on what grants are available to help insulate homes and replace boilers, or on buying 'green' energy from renewable sources.
"The offers and advice are great, and we hope that people will take the opportunity to become more energy efficient, help the environment, and save themselves money to boot," added Cllr Campbell. The events will be taking place at:
- Tiverton Market on Tuesday, January 13, from 10.00am - 1.00pm
- Cullompton Town Hall on Thursday, January 22, from 10.00am - 12.00pm
- Crediton District Council Office on Thursday, January 22, from 2.00pm - 4.00pm
