Yeovil Town won 9-0 at Shaftesbury on Tuesday night in a friendly to celebrate the official opening of their hosts' new ground at Coppice Street - and Glovers' boss Gary Johnson scored one of the goals!
The Yeovil X1 consisted of a mixture of youth team players and first-team squad members including Steve Collis, Chris Giles, Stephen Reed, Andy Lindegaard, Steve Thompson, Jake Edwards, Abdelhalim El Kholti and Adam Stansfield.
Stansfield opened the scoring in the 12th minute and before the interval Yeovil had gone 4-0 up with further goals coming from Shaun Smith, a second for Stansfield, and an effort from Edwards.
Charlie Welch made it 5-0 just before the hour-mark, Edwards netted his second moments later and then 'player-manager' Gary Johnson, who had come on at half-time to replace Reed, converted a penalty - much to his relief - in the 80th minute.
Seconds later and Stansfield completed his hat-trick, before Giles completed the scoring in the 84th minute.
Johnson, who played the entire second 45 minutes, described his own performance afterwards as 'perfect.'
He joked: "The boy Johnson done well, but he looks a lot younger on television!"
And he told the Express the day after the game: "It took me ages to get out of bed this morning - I ache a bit and feel quite sore!"
