NEW Year's Eve around Tiverton, Crediton and Cullompton passed relatively quietly thanks to the weather and cold conditions, but the story over the whole county is quite different.
Police in Tiverton said that New Year was not very different from a normal Friday or Saturday night in the town and reported only very minor incidents.
Devon and Cornwall Police logged over 900 incidents between 10pm and 7am New Year's Day, a figure three times the normal amount, and received hundreds of 999 emergency calls.
There were however, no major incidents reported, but a number of people were taken into police custody, largely for alcohol related incidents, fighting, assaults and disorder.
A number of incidents were also reported due to the bad weather, flooding and the alarms of some premises went off as a result of the rain.
