The mayor of Camborne Cyril Waterhouse died suddenly this week after collapsing after a meeting at County Hall.
The town and county councillor was rushed to Royal Cornwall Hospital, Treliske where he underwent emergency exploratory surgery but unfortunately died on Monday afternoon. His wife Freda was by his bedside.
The exact cause of death is currently unknown but it is thought that it was connected to a ruptured aneurysm.
Friends, family and colleagues have paid tribute to the well-respected councillor of seven years and say he will be sorely missed.
His wife Freda said a date for the funeral was yet to be set but the service would be carried out by Cyril's ex-colleague and friend, Dr Lynnea Glynne-Rule.
