MOTORISTS in Chard and Ilminster have heeded warnings about the dangers of drink driving, according to police statistics.
The number of drink drive arrests across Avon and Somerset was down in 2003 and there was not one serious or fatal road collision in which alcohol was a contributory factor.
The Somerset East district, which includes Chard and Ilminster, recorded the lowest number of arrests for positive breath tests, and there were no arrests for being drunk in charge of a motor vehicle.
Four people refused a test.
