WELLINGTON Town Council was caught short of ideas on what to do about the worst public toilets in Taunton Deane, this week.
Councillors discussed the North Street car park facilities at their meeting on Monday, after Taunton Deane Council asked for their opinions on whether they should be knocked down and rebuilt or refurbished.
The Deane has made sorting out the loos, branded the worst in the area by environment boss Cllr Mark Edwards, a 'number one priority'.
But town councillors were at sixes and sevens over what their recommendation should be without more information.
Cllr Chris Hindley said the Deane had made the installation of vandal proof fixtures and fittings and number one priority and a bid for funding in the 2004/5 budget made.
A quote of £100,000 has been given for the work in the past but there was confusion as to what that money would cover and whether it was in fact the figure being discussed by the Deane.
And the council eventually agreed to write to the Deane asking for the £100,000 to be spent on the best possible solution for the toilets, whether that meant pulling the existing building down and starting from scratch or completely refurbishment.
