A DEVON hospital has reported a record number of emergency admissions, it emerged today.
Figures for the Christmas and New Year period show a surge in admissions at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital in Exeter, with the numbers up more than ten per cent on the previous year.
The hospital has admitted people suffering from a wide variety of conditions, including viral infections and flu-like illnesses.
It postponed some planned operations in order to deal with emergency cases.
