OVER 3,000 speeding drivers have opted for a road safety workshop in Taunton rather than have three points put on their licence in the past seven months.
The three-hour Speed Choice workshops at the Western Power Distribution site on Priorswood Trading Estate aim to persuade drivers to travel at a safe speed.
The sheme is proving so successful that organisers hope it will soon be extended.
A further 1,000 people have attended a course at Cribbs Causeway in Bristol and around 10,000 drivers are expected to attend one of the Speed Choice workshops in the first year.
Drivers are only allowed to attend one workshop and failure to turn up for the allocated session results in them being fined for the original speeding offence and having their licence endorsed.
