FORMER Somerset cricketer Peter Robinson is back on the winning trail . . . not for the sport that has dominated his life ever since he left school but as a gardener.
'Robbo' has held virtually every position there is at the County Ground since joining as a player from 1965-78, including coach during the glory years of the late 1970s and latterly as ground manager.
Earlier this year the former spin bowler, now 60, became a part-timer with the club. allowing him more time to concentrate on his allotment.
Now 'Robbo' has won an award for the best allotment in an internationally run competition by the Rowbarton Allotment Association.
He was presented with his award by secretary John Cleverdon at a recent meeting of members at the Cottage Inn in Kingston Road.
"Peter grows a good variety of crops and keeps a tidy plot," said Mr Cleverdon.
Anybody interested in becoming an allotment holder at Rowbarton should contact John Cleverdon on 01823-279491.
