THE daughter of a 53-year-old man who was found stabbed outside his Gloucestershire home has described his death as pointless and brutal.
Terry Rogers was found in a pool of blood on the pavement in Cromwell Road, Whaddon, Cheltenham, just after 1am on December 20. He died later in Cheltenham hospital.
At a press conference at Cheltenham Police Station, his daughter, Catherine, 26, said she was devastated and shattered by the death of her 'best friend'.
She said: 'To lose my dad is devastating. It is such a pointless and brutal way of absolutely shattering me.
'My dad was a lovely and kind man who would do anything for anyone. I just want to find who is responsible for his death.'
Seven people have been arrested - three men, three women and a 16-year-old boy - and released on police bail, but detectives are still struggling to find a motive for the attack, which they are treating as murder.
In a direct appeal for witnesses, Catherine said: 'Everybody knew my father, who has done so many favours for people in the area. I want anyone who knows anything to do what is right and help us.
'I know the area was not the best area in the world to live in and I was worried about my dad, but I didn't expect this to happen. I just want somebody to say something now.'
Detective Inspector Marc Flannery of Gloucestershire Police, said of the attack: 'It was cowardly. It was on a defenceless chap who lived in his own home and Catherine has lost her father as a result.'
Police would like to speak to anyone who was in the Whaddon area of Cheltenham late on Friday, December 19, through to the early hours of December 20.
