IT WAS a wonderful Christmas for Burnham United's first team. They thrashed Bridgwater Town's reserve side 7-1, watched by a 200 crowd, in the local derby at Cassis Close on Boxing Day, then won 3-1 away against second-placed Team Bath on Saturday to go second in the table themselves.
Burnham totally dominated Town on Boxing Day, from the first minute until the last. They were 3-0 up within 15-minutes and scored four goals in the second half to notch up what is believed to be their biggest every victory over Bridgwater.
Player-manager John Spence made three changes from the line-up who had lost at Wells the previous week.
