CONGRATULATIONS to the members of HMS Seahawk Volunteer Band are in order for their excellent result at the RN Volunteer Band Festival, held at HMS Nelson in Portsmouth.
For the fourth successive year the band took away the Bambara Trophy, awarded to the best band in the Fleet Air Arm, and was placed first in the contest for best overall band in the Royal Navy.
The band was also awarded the Willis Trophy for the best marching display and the Richard Johns Memorial Trophy as runner-up in the concert performance.
The Volunteer Band from HMS Seahawk at RNAS Culdrose, under Band Colour Sergeant Rich Fenwick, Royal Marines, performs at military and civilian events around the county, and consists of both service personnel and civilians. Over the years the band has gained recognition for its high standard of playing at many ceremonial and charity events.
