Taunton Town 2, Yeovil Town 1 (at Clevedon)
TAUNTON gate-crashed Yeovil's end of season party with a surprise win over the Conference League champions in the Somerset Premier Cup final at Clevedon on Tuesday (April 29) night.
Although the country's outstanding non-league club were not at full strength they still put out a strong side.
Even Taunton's normally cool manager Russell Musker admitted he was "surprised" by his team's victory - their first in nine Premier Cup finals.
"I thought the lads were brilliant," said a delighted Musker afterwards.
"They put out a side which they thought was good enough to beat us."
In-form striker Gary Fisher maintained his tremendous end-of-season scoring spell by netting both of the Dr Martens League club's goals - in the 44th and 77th minutes.
However, there was some controversy about his first goal, the Glovers' claiming Fisher tugged at the shirt of Abdul Elkholti before scoring.
But there was nothing untoward about his second goal as he got in front of Yeovil's defence and met a cross from the right to shoot past goalkeeper Steve Collis.
Ex-Taunton defender Jimmy Aggrey, albeit for two matches, made it an uncomfortable last six minutes for his former club by pulling a goal back for Yeovil.
