Yeovil Town manager Gary Johnson described Saturday's celebrations as 'one of the most exciting days' of his life.
Johnson was full of emotion as skipper Terry Skiverton lifted the Nationwide Conference championship trophy at a packed Huish Park.
"They were great celebrations," he said. "We were all a bit down after only drawing 1-1 with Chester, but I had to pick them up in the tunnel as they don't like not winning.
"But we knew we had to go back out that tunnel with similes and obviously the crowd started cheering us and we got presented with the trophy, and then the realism suddenly came upon us and we realised what we'd done and celebrated accordingly!
"It was very emotional to see everyone celebrating and Saturday was one of the most exciting days of my life."
Johnson said this week that he was still in negotiations with the club's board of directors about extending his contract which comes to an end next summer.
But there is no doubting that Johnson will sort out some sort of deal as he prepares to take Yeovil into the Football League.
But he revealed that four players would be leaving the club - Jimmy Aggrey, Neil Mustoe, Kim Grant and Jon Sheffield. Keeper Sheffield is retiring from the game, but is to go into coaching and it is expected that he will be at Huish Park for a couple of days a week to work with stoppers Chris Weale and Steve Collis.
Johnson is waiting to see how long-term injury victims Adam Stansfield and Tom White recuperate over the next few weeks before completing contract negotiations with them.
The rest of the squad - including local lads Andy Lindegaard and Chris Giles - has been signed up on longer term contract deals.
