FOR the second week running, Burnham put a severe dent in high-flying Portishead's title hopes, scoring a late winner at Cassis Close on Saturday. The home side was unchanged from the previous weekend, when they drew 1-1 at Portishead.
This was a ding-dong battle with very few chances at either end. The surface was very slippery and got worse as heavy rain fell in the last half-four. In an early attack by Portishead, Gary Prowse cleared off the Burnham line. Then it was end-to-end football, with Burnham keeper, Craig Holley, busy on several occasions.
Final result Burnham United 1, Portishead 0 but see this week's Weekly News sports pages for full report and results of all local matches.
