Truro and Mullion opened their Premier League season's at Boscawen Park in a game which a few weeks ago didn't look likely to feature in this season's fixtures.
Mullion though, having decided to continue in the top division, following the loss of a number of key players, at least gave a reasonable account of themselves and just managed to gain the two points for a lower scoring draw, which this season is awarded only if more then 75 per cent of the target is achieved.
Following morning rain the start was delayed with the game reduced to 102 overs. Truro were put in and made good progress. Julian Bose was bowled by Danny Gillman for 10 with the score at 42. Tom Sharp joined Neil Stoddard and the pair put on 162 for the second wicket before Stoddard was caught and bowled by Simon Wherry for 73, which included five fours.
Sharp, who fell just short of a century the previous week in the Cornwall 'A' v 'B' game, this time reached three figures. It included two sixes and eight fours. On Daniel Martin's dismissal at the start of the 50th over the innings was declared giving Mullion a maximum of 52 overs.
Keith Warbis fell without scoring but Kevin Bosustow and Gareth Taylor put on 85 for the second wicket. Bosustow was dismissed by Chris Phillips for 16 and Taylor went soon after caught behind off Sharp for 47.
Simon Wherry held the rest of the innings together making 43 not out. Wickets fell at the other end but the City club eventually had to settle for a draw.
Sharp took 3 for 34 and Andy Grant, opening the bowling, took 3-52.
On Saturday Truro face the tough challenge of St Buryan at home followed by the visit to St Just on Monday.
Mullion have two home games over the weekend with Troon and Menheniot visiting Garro Lane.
