Bridgwater is set to be given an historic new landmark ... an 8ft bronze statue to celebrate 400 years of Carnival in the town.
The proposed monument, which will be 4ft square, is likely to go on a plinth along the Carnival route through the town centre.
The statue will be in place by 2005 for the 400th anniversary of Guy Fawkes' failed bid to blow up the Houses of Parliament and the celebrations in Bridgwater of his execution.
