BLACKSMITH Mike Judd of Greystone Forge, Forton, dismantled and brought down to earth the Chard Guildhall weather vane for restoration on Monday (February 18).
The seven-foot high, four hundred weight wrought iron structure took the team four-and-a-half hours to take down.
The weather vane had to be jacked two feet into the air and unbolted from the inside of the bell tower with a special tool made by Mr Judd.
