With the summer leagues completed Falmouth Bowling Club are engaged in a series of friendly matches with clubs from the three other divisions in the county.

Club members are busy playing off championship matches in singles, pairs, triples and fours to decide which players will go forward to next year's county competitions.

On Friday, the club welcomed Porthleven from the Western Division with four men's matches and two ladies teams - this resulted in a convincing win for Falmouth, but on a lovely summer's evening everyone enjoyed their games and met new friends.

Result: Falmouth men 117, Porthleven men 52; J Oldcroft 24, R Bricknell 18; R Medlyn 26, G Bryant 15; H Stephens 32, R Smith 10; J Jones 35, M Rosewarne 9.

Falmouth ladies 50, Porthleven ladies 30; J Hards 31, J Preston 14; J Medlyn 19, M Tresidder 16.

On Saturday Falmouth travelled to St Stephens of the Central division to play six rinks mixed match. Old friendships were renewed and an enjoyable afternoon was completed just before the rain came down.
