Rain brought an early end to the important County Division I derby game at Trewirgie with Redruth scoring 122 for 2 off 32 overs in reply to Troon's 185 for 8. Redruth were looking for a rare double over Troon who had the rough end of the conditions.
Troon chose to bat and openers Mike Salerno and Matthew Rowe put on 79 before Rowe fell to a good catch off Phil Bostock.
Troon were well placed at the midway point of the innings but the middle order were contained by a controlled spell of slow left arm bowling from Phil Bostock at the Albany end.
Salerno, who hit six boundaries from 118 deliveries faced, was trapped leg before by Nigel Hambly in the 39th over. A good partnership for the eighth wicket between Simon Moyle and Mark Jenkin added 27 valuable runs before Moyle was caught on the boundary by 1'5-year-old Stephen Keverne.
A brief shower fell at the start of the Redruth innings as David Guffick and Keverne put on 66 runs in 20 overs before Keverne, who hit five boundaries, was well caught low down by Matthew Rowe off the bowling of Mark Jenkin.
A quickfire 21 by Tim Manhire put Redruth in a good position as rain started to fall, Manhire was dismissed by Salerno as the rain started to get heavier and with the TV mast at Four Lanes no longer visible the umpires took the players from the field and after half an hour delay the match was abandoned. Guffick, who faced 87 deliveries, reached the boundary six times to complete his half century.
